“강한 반발을 초래할 수 있는 가격 인상 대신 제품의 양을 줄이는 방식을 택하는 것을 의미한다. 정부가 이를 규제하기 위한 제도적 장치를 마련했음에도 현장에서는 소비자 모르게 제품 용량을 축소하는 행태가 지속되고 있다. 15일 유통업계에 따르면 생활용품 업체인 한국P&G는 지난해 6월에 페브리즈 공기 탈취제를 리뉴얼하면서 용량을 기존 275g에서 165g으로 40% 줄였다. 그러나 가격은 기존과 동일하게 유지했다. 이는 소비자에게 별도의 안내 없이 이뤄져 사실상 가격 인상으로 볼 수 있다. P&G 뿐만 아니라 다른 업체에서도 소비자 안내 없이 슈링크플레이션이 이어지고 있다.”
