We have 189 documented cases of chocolate bars, bags, boxes, eggs and sweets that got smaller, in Germany, the UK, the US, Australia, South Korea, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, Italy and Japan, from 2015 to 2026, 46 of them in 2026. The median pack lost 12.0% of its contents, a 13.6% hidden price rise per gram at the same pack price. The latest: Dare Wafer in Dark Chocolate bar (UK), 50 g → 44 g (2026, allsupers.co.uk). Price per 100 g. Shelf tags in the UK and the EU usually show a unit price (per kg or per 100 g); it is the only fair comparison between a bar, a bag and a box.
