With the September 2025 menu renewal Kyochon cut the pre-cooking weight of its boneless chicken from 700 g to 500 g (about 30%) at unchanged prices and mixed breast meat into what had been 100% thigh. After a public and government backlash Kyochon said on 23 Oct 2025 that it would restore the old weight and meat for the four existing boneless menus (Etoday). Korea made weight labelling mandatory for the top 10 chicken chains from Dec 2025.

“그대로 두고 중량을 기존 대비 약 30% 줄여 소비자들이 불만의 목소리를 쏟아내고 있다. 특히 대형마트에서 판매하는 순살치킨과 비교했을 때 동일 중량 대비 가격차가 3~4배에 달해 ‘슈링크플레이션(shrinkflation)’ 논란에 불을 붙였다. 17일 업계에 따르면 최근 교촌치킨은 순살치킨의 조리 전 중량을 기존 700g에서 500g으로 약 30% 줄였다. 마라레드순살과 허니갈릭순살 등 신메뉴 10종과 간장순살, 레드순살 등 기존 메뉴 4종에 모두 적용됐다. 신메뉴 중량을 500g으로 맞춰 출시하면서 기존 순살 제품도 일괄 축소한 것이다.”
