USDA FoodData Central — Branded Foods label records, Pop-Tarts Made with Whole Grain (GTIN 038000551369 and two flavours) fdc.nal.usda.gov

Source fetched 2026-11-07.

Two label records in USDA FoodData Central carry the same GTIN. The older one (captured from the label in January 2021) gives 3.53 oz (100 g) per two-pastry pouch; Kellogg's own product data from January 2023 onward gives 3.3 oz, and Kellanova's 2026 school-foodservice spec sheet for the same item (#38000-55133) lists 3.3 oz (96 g) pouches and a 20.3 oz (576 g) six-pouch carton, which held 21.1 oz (600 g) before. That is about 0.9 oz (24 g) less per six-pouch carton. The same shrink of each pastry (50 g → 48 g) shows in the retail 10-pastry boxes, 17.6 oz (500 g) → 16.9 oz (479 g) in the same records, and in the single-pastry packs, 1.76 oz → 1.7 oz. Dated to the span between the two label records (Jan 2021 – Jan 2023); FDC has no shelf prices, so no price was compared.

Against official inflation: BLS CPI-U (US) “bread” changed +22.3% (2023 average vs 2021). The size cut alone raises the price per gram by +4.2% if the shelf price stayed the same (the source recorded no prices). Every case is compared the same way in the ShrinkRadar Index.
